Bug Description

The mate-panel crashed after trying different Alert Sounds in the "Sound Effects" tab within the "Sound Preferences" section of the MATE Control Centre.

This is for Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS Beta 1 - running within a VirtualBox VM
(VirtualBox version 5.0.14 - host OS is Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon Edition 64-bit)
The VirtualBox "Guest Additions" are installed in the Ubuntu MATE VM.

The crash appeared unexpectedly.

mate-panel crashed again in Ubuntu MATE 16.04 Beta 2.

This is a fresh install with all updated applied, running in a VirtualBox VM
(VirtualBox version 5.0.16), with Guest Additions installed.

The crashed happened again today (30th March 2016), just after booting the VM and after the Welcome screen appeared (i.e. I wasn't doing anything in particular).

The same crash happened today (5th April 2016), again just after booting the VM and the Welcome screen appears. It's now happening regularly.
