indicators in mate-panel is blank with "no indicators"

Bug Description

Clean installed Ubuntu MATE daily 20180918. Changed to 'traditional' layout in MATE tweak. Indicator area on the top right just says 'no indicators' next to the calendar. It's missing the sound, battery, network, etc...

Please switch to another layout and then back to the traditional layout and see if that helps.

I have the same. Just updated to 18.10, and no indicators. I already reset the panel, but it did not help.

no matter what layout I choose, it stays 'No Indicators'.

in 18.10 there is a problem with mate-indicator-applet. Devs are working on it.

I think there will be a migration happening from the Canonical indicators to Ayatana Indicators.
