Bug Description

The picture is worth 1000 words, but: with a vertical panel, the netspeed applet uses an icon that is too large for the panel, and is in the wrong place, resulting in half of it being clipped off entirely.

The same bug (or at least something strongly related to it) would realistically prevent enabling the icon at all, as it's roughly 4x the size of the Up/Down arrows, rather than the same size as those. (16.04 works correctly: I can add a screenie of that if it'll help clarify).

I can confirm that this is a bug on 19.10 daily but only when the applet it's place on the vertical panel. At the first look the icons has to much horizontal death space .

Sorry, I could have sworn I had: that's from 19.04, fully updated.

As a reminder, there are two bugs here: it's not just mis-placed, it's also not scaled correctly. IDK if fixing the spacing will also fix the icon size, but hopefully so.

Both bugs, that is. (Sorry, forgot to check the second one before).

AFAICT, in 22.04 this bug has been partially fixed, in that the icon is arguably the correct size (just not the same size that it was prior to this bug appearing), but it still occasionally appears in the wrong place, and consistently so if certain options have *ever* been enabled or disabled since the process was started.

More pressing is the fact that between the addition of extra characters to the unit legend, and the removal of the option to shorten that (to a form that still provides exactly as much information), netspeed is literally unusable in 22.04 on vertical panels. That doesn't mean the removal of the formatting option was a mistake per se, as the long form never actually provided any data of value, but only the short form actually works consistently, so that's the one it needs to use.

Patches for both bugs attached.
