mate weather applet no longer displays custom radar image

In Ubuntu 18.04, the mate weather applet no longer displays custom radar images. This feature has worked perfectly, in the previous releases.

To replicate this issue:

Go to Preferences

Select Enable Radar Map

Select Use custom address for radar map

In the Address Box, use: http://www.bom.gov.au/radar/IDR021.gif

Click Close

Select Update from right-button context menu on applet

Open Applet

View Radar Map

Result: no image
