Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

Is mapivi a gui program or a terminal program?
Which section of the menu do you expect it in?
Does it create an entry in /usr/share/applications?

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation.

When mapivi is installed, there is no .desktop file created, thus there is no menu item created.

Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

In Ubuntu karmic, there is still no menu item. As upstream doesn't provide one, I think the package maintainer should add an own and remove the Debian-specific menu entry which apparently is ignored.

I am attachign a patch for the karmic 0.9.7 package.
