Bug Description
Hi ,
I just wanted to upgrade a mailserver from Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04, running postfix and maildrop, and ran into a problem with changed behaviour of maildrop.
postfix always calls mail delivery commands with a From-line (environment sender and date) before the RFC822 header. The 12.04 maildrop accepted this line, and everything was well.
The 14.04 maildrop however does not accept this header line, escapes it with a > and adds its own (similar) From line, thus making all messages have two From lines, like
From...
>From...
HEADER
After checking the source code, I found an configure option
--enable-
which makes maildrop have the old behavior, which meets postfix and other MTAs.
Should be compiled this way (or patched to accept a command line flag).
Unfortunately there is no way (except using a filter pipe) to have postfix and maildrop deliver clean messages.
regards
Hadmut
