Works better if I turn on the plugin in evolution, but on the other hand then evolution crashes and I get the following message in mail-notification:

** INFO: ACC INBOX reported an error: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.
** INFO: HPC2N inbox reported an error: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Same here...

Architecture: amd64 - Ubuntu 8.10
Evolution 2.24.2
Mail Notification 5.4.dfsg.1-1build1

I also have problems with indexing Evolution mail (Tracker and Beagle... none of them can index any of my 8 pop mail accounts).

Mail-notification 5.4.dfsg.1-1ubuntu1 fixed an evolution crash. Could you test with this version (available in Jaunty)? This is possibly a duplicate of bug 251031. Thanks in advance.

I'm still at Intrepid and the bug is filed against the versions available in Intrepid, so no, I can't test it, unless you can get me a version that eventually will end up in Intrepid.

You should be able to test the Jaunty version of mail-notification in Intrepid by manually installing the deb [1], or by using the PPA as noted in bug 251031 [2]. I have nominated the bug for Intrepid SRU. If this bug is the same issue then we can mark this as a duplicate, but if it is not we need to investigate further. This is why it would be helpful to us if you tested with this new version. Thanks again.

I tried to install:
[1] http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20040216/mail-notification_5.4.dfsg.1-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb
on Intrepid, but after installation I got status Error: Failed to satisfy all dependencies (broken cache). (see attached image below).
Anyway I tried mail notification again and faced exactly same problems :
- I can't add new mailbox "Evolution type"
- If I open evolution in background and try to add mailbox after that, I can browse my evolution folders in order to select "inbox", but after that evolution crashes and in mail-notification mailbox list there is "inbox" unhandled evolution mailbox (unable to contact evolution), so I have to remove it again.

Now running jaunty mail-notification is still not working with evolution.

The plugin is installed but not enabled since mail-notification-evolution is still compiled against evolution 2.24, not 2.26 which is the one available i Jaunty.

If your mail-notification applet cannot communicate with evolution in Jaunty, please try the workaround in bug 355209 .

If the workaround succeeds, then you have bug 355209. We can merge the bugs and further discussion on it should be in that bug report.

If the workaround fails, please let us know if further information for triaging this bug will be available. If no further information will be available, we will eventually close this bug report due to lack of information to locate the bug.
