Actually the version lock might be the problem:
  psycopg2 (= 2.4.1),

while Precise currently seems to have 2.4.4-3.

Right, Daviey was supposed to be backporting a fix to django so we can remove that restriction. Daviey?

And yay, I can't triage this.

This was only half fixed in maas 0.1+bzr171+dfsg-0ubuntu1 as it still depends on "psycopg2" (source package name) instead of "python-psycopg2" (binary package name).

Package maas version 0.1+bzr171+dfsg-0ubuntu1 has an unmet dep:
 Depends: psycopg2

  * New upstream snapshot.

  [ Dave Walker ]
  * debian/control:
    - Changed depends from psycopg2 to python-psycopg2 and dropped versioning.
      - LP: #937982

  [ Andres Rodriguez ]
  * debian/maas.install: Install maas-import-isos and related files.
  * Integrate squid3 as proxy solution:
    - debian/extras/squid.conf: Added
    - debian/control: Depend on squid3.
    - debian/maas.{postinst,postrm}: Handle installation/removal of custom

  * Split into different binary packages (maas,python-django-maas).
