maas does not know about vivid

maas in trusty right now does not know about vivid.
  This is fixed in maas 1.7 that it automatically knows about new ubuntu releases, but maas in our LTS does not.

The offending file is: /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/maasserver/enum.py

this was fixed upstream under bug 1233713.

I found this bug when verifying the changes for bug 1427950 work with maas in trusty proper.

1.7 is currently in process to be SRU. The release team has it in his hands and should be reviewing the package to make it available in -proposed.

so essentially we're saying this is fixed in maas_1.7.4+bzr3366-0ubuntu1~14.04.0.dsc which is in new queue right now
