Binary package hint: lyx
the german menues of the lyx word processor are wrong. They look as if the encoding is wrong. Running the edgy (upgraded from dapper)

Correct. The encoding used is ISO-8859-1, whereas it should be UTF-8. Bug #61698 was already filed about this issue, however.
