I'm assuming you want to SRU this bug, so I nominated it for Ubuntu 8.04 and Ubuntu 8.10.

Please, update Lyx in Ubuntu 8.10 to 1.5.7 from 1.5.6.
Lyx 1.5.7 is a stable release with one major fix: reads files created by Lyx 1.6.x. Additionally, 1.5.7 fixes these bugs: http://www.lyx.org/announce/1_5_7.txt |
LyX cannot read 1.6.x files. Please update Lyx in Ubuntu 8.04 and Ubuntu 8.10 to 1.5.7 or cherry-pick specific changes, specifically the ability to read 1.6.x files: ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/stable/1.5.x/patch-1.5.7.gz (LyX 1.5.7 patch)
