Bug Description
OS: Linux Mint 17 Xfce (32bit).
How to reproduce:
1. Install LyX with `apt-get install lyx`
2. Insert equation, type `\cdot`
Expected behaviour:
See a vertically centered dot.
Observed behaviour:
Saw a verically centered x (the times symbol).
When exporting to pdf, the correct symbol is shown.
-------
The issue has been previously (2008) been reported for Ubuntu in general:
https:/
The cause was that the required package `latex-xft-fonts` is listed only as "recommended". In recent versions of Ubuntu, such packages should be installed by default.
For Linux Mint 16 the homepage [1] states explicitly, that recommended packages are no longer installed, which presumably reintroduced this bug.
