Bug Description

Change LXTerminal .desktop icon to "utilities-terminal" so that it can be inherited by the theme.

Agree, this should be fixed. Ideally, this should also be applied (if theme icon exists) to other system-default software, such as Galculator etc.

Do you have a list of applications + the desired icon name ? I'm agree for Lxterminal, but for example galculator have a specific icon which IMO should not be generic.
