Unity/Gnome are a resource hog. If this is fixed, and you can have both Indicator and global-menu supported in lxpanel, there remains no reason not to move to lubuntu for many users. By their preference, users can install docky/synapse/ whatever on top of lxde, and get a fully working ubuntu setup no different in essence from Unity, but at a much lower resource cost.
Perhaps the importance should be raised above from 'Low'?
