text and some graphics munged in lubuntu

See the attached image at full-scale. This is from a fresh install and the graphics, especially the text, are bad. What should happen is that the text is readable and the graphics good-looking.

Looking at the image on a different computer, it looks ok. But on the original equipment it is quite bad. I'll get the machine out tomorrow and take a photo instead.

Here is a screenshot showing one of the problem areas. Sorry the photo is not so good, it is hard to get a good closeup, in part because of the brightness (which is another bug because it cannot be adjusted). I hope it illustrates the problem. Bascally the text in some cases is virtually unreadable.

I *think* I can see it. It appears it's repeatable since you just did it again. This wasn't a problem with previous versions? I think `lspci -vvnn` is required here. Also might be useful to see if there's any warnings or errors in /var/log/dmesg, syslog, or Xorg.0.log. I don't see issues with other testers nor am I having the issue. Clearly it's related to some specific hardware. Which is to say, it's probably graphics drivers, but we'll see.
