LXDE: Sporadically Unresponsive to Single/Double Clicks on touchpad

Bug Description
This only started happening reently. The Touchpad on my Gateway FX P6680 started having mice problems with the touchpad. LXDE started to become unresponsive to SINGLE and DOUBLE CLICKS, sometimes having to click an object 5 - 10 times beore it would launch an application from the menu or open a file.
i had installed gpointing-

but it returned
