Same situation after update:

[1.314855] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,2)

Installed by Wubi in Windows 7, in a machine Toshiba A205 (x86).

Now I go to reinstall and look what happen after update.
