Bug Description

When copying files into the Lubuntu-Desktop, always this "There is already a file with the same name in this location" message pops up. Canceling it is safe, but still it's pretty misleading.

I saw this bug already in 11.10, and in yesterday's precise ISO it's still there.

I'm unable to reproduce this behaviour. Can you provide the steps used to cause the problem.

Steps to reproduce:

- Login to Lubuntu (using encrypted home)
- Insert some USB Media
- Accept to view the contents in the popup dialog
- Select some of the contents, next hit ctrl+c
- click somewhere on the Desktop
- hit ctrl-v

The described dialog shall popup.

I suspect this to be some sort of data race error: The check for existing files at the target locations happens not before they get copied, but possibly inbetween - at least I was able to reproduce this on two different Dualcore Systems (Thinkpad X301 and Thinkpad X60).

Able to reproduce with out an encrypted /home or USB media

1 - open a folder in PCManFM (NOT Desktop folder)
2 - select a file
3 - hit ctrl+c
4 - click somewhere on the Desktop
5 - hit ctrl-v

Doesn't occur with the following though

1 - open a folder in PCManFM (NOT Desktop folder)
2 - select a file in a folder
3 - hit ctrl+c
4 - open the Desktop folder
5 - hit ctrl-v

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
