Bug Description

Download the 11.04 iso, used unetbootin to create a bootable lubuntu USB. Tried to boot to the usb on a Toshiba NB305-N600 netbook but when choosing the "Try lubuntu...." it freezes at the unetbootin menu with a flashing cursor. Also if the option to "Install Lubuntu" is selected than it stalls at the lubuntu splash screen and then errors out which is shown in the attachment.

Maybe the unetbootin is not supporting the actual version of this, i install this version with Lili Linux, is a creator for windows if do you have it.

Stl, whilst unetbootin is pretty good, it does sometimes have issues. The people at pendrivelinux have a new 'toy' for us to play with. I've used their stuff in the past and it has always been good. I will try to get time over the w/end to see if I can recreate your problem with unetbootin. I'm not too sure how much help it will be, as I'm on 9.10 at present! The link to the the new pendrivelinux system is http://www.pendrivelinux.com/liveusb-install-live-usb-creator/

Ah sorry I did not see your post with Toshiba NB305-N600 written on. I installed 11.04, 11.12 and 12.04 fine on my little samsung N145. Perhaps it might be an issue with the model. Can I ask is it connected to the internet when you install?

For some lower-spec computers, using the alternate ISO is recommended over the live ISO. If this is still an issue, please consider trying the alternate ISO installation process as a viable workaround: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Alternate_ISO

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Natty Narwhal reached EOL on 28 October 2012.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

It could also be an issue with an error in the download of your ISO, or in the copying to the installation media. Because of this, you will want to verify the image (there's an option at the boot menu).

Please either a) upgrade and test or b) increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again.

I will make this bug incomplete until this additional information is obtained. Within 60 days, the bug will automatically expire.

Thanks again!
