selecting lubuntu-default causes invalid string error

Just upgraded to lubuntu 15.04 vivid.
selected lubuntu-default widget in the "Customize Look and Feel" panel
open a console and run gvim.

I get the following error message on the console screen...

$ gvim
/usr/share/themes/Lubuntu-default/gtk-2.0/apps/thunar.rc:55: error: invalid string constant "thunar-statusbar", expected valid string constant

same issue if I were to select "Lubuntu-dark-panel" theme. But does not happen with other themes.

I am using Lubuntu with the lxde desktop. This error also happens when I try to start the samba GUI

$ system-config-samba
