Bug Description

System: LenovoThinkpad T60 with Intel(r) 82945GM Chipset Family Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS

History: Ubuntu 12.04 installation running purrfectly. Updated to Lubuntu 13.04, Installprocess runs through smoothly.
After Systemboot , notebook LCD stays black, but with lighted screen.

Analysis so far: With external screen connected, everything is fine. With LCD-screen only, the system can be used blindly. "NOMODESET" on grub solves the issue for one boot. "Additional drivers" does not offer anything else to install.

Workaround sofar: Waiting for screensaver to kick in or change into standby or hibernate. After "unlocking" again, the system reinitializes the screen and all is well - until the next shutdown.

First attempt was an upgrade-install. Since screen stayed black, I tried a clean install, same behaviour.

Much the same is true with Lubuntu, on an old Dell Inspirion 1100. it just will not recognize the laptop's LCD screen. Seems to run nicely with the external monitor, and was able to recognize the type, size, screen resolution etc.

14.04 seems to be very buggy with graphics.

This is the display information for the Lubuntu bug on my Dell Inspirion 1100. Using the Live CD, Lubuntu displays well. It booted OK the first time after install, then the update manager installed several update files. I don't know how to find what these were, or what they did, but the LCD did not work after that.
