Attached a preparation of your upstream fix to be forwarded to Debian, just need to replace the two occurrences of "TODO" with the Debian bug number you got.

Some maintainers prefer to pick from upstream themselve, some prefer a Debdiff you never know.
I think it can only help to provide.
