option --no-canonicalize not recognized: cannot mount external drives

Bug Description

loop-aes-utils in Lucid replaces /bin/mount with a version that doesn't recognize the --no-canonicalize option. As a consequence, mount commands including that option fail. This happens at least with external drives formatted with vfat or ntfs, e.g. usb keys.
In this case, mounting fails silently with no error, and no hint unless using a strace on the mount command.

This is a horrendous bug. I have seen my NTFS mounts fail silently for a while, and I had absolutely no inkling why, even after using strace. I'm surprised more people don't see this (I suspect few use loop-aes)

Not only mounts fail, but of course grub2's os-prober fails as well. And since grub2 is so smart, it's really hard to configure a static grub entry (the "custom" gets ignored for some other reason).

This really needs to be fixed, or worked around in fuse.

Note that it's not like you install a new loop-aes and mount breaks. I have had mount-aes installed for many years, and only when fuse started requiring --no-canonicalize recently did this happen.

I don't even know if this shouldn't go to fuse.

Marking as duplicate of #731228, since there seems to be more activity there. Also this is loop-aes-utils not loop-aes.
