Bug Description
I have a Bq E5 (not an E4.5) and the GPS does not seem to work. The SensorsStatus app shows GPS as returning no results for location (every reading ("Latitude", "Longitude", etc) is shown as a dash, except "Method" which is "Satellite" and "Speed" which is "nan") . I have attached various logfiles in the hope that they will help. I have tried turning off location detection and GPS and turning them back on again, to no avail. I have also tried turning off wifi, to no avail.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
| Changed in location-service (Ubuntu): | |
| status: | New → Confirmed |

I can confirm, that this affects me on my brand new E5 as well. I am currently located in Denmark (if that helps anyhow) and GPS doesn't work via cellular at all. Over WiFi, however, it seems to work.

And i can confirm, I have Meizu MX4
Ubuntu 15.04 - armhf ( 20150825 - 170536) rc4 from the box
Here Maps. OSM Scout can find my location, after OTA-6 update

Can not ...

@Ladela: please mark the bug as "affecting me" in the top left corner if you haven't done so.

Idem on bq E4.5

A few things to note:
[1.] SensorStatus app is not able to determine whether a location was obtained by the GPS or by a network-based positioning method.
[2.] The missing espoo.log indicates that the Nokia Here provider carrying out network-based positioning is not installed/
[3.] The following lines in the ERROR log:
E0904 10:17:10.653188 3704 android_
Indicate an issue with the current data connection. The gps chipset driver is trying to download an assistance file for speeding up GPS-based fixes. It fails to do so and with that, the chipset falls back to a cold-start scenario, with the gps querying ephimeris and almanac information from satellites. The respective download can take a long time (usually ~20 minutes) but depends on satellite visibility and on the phone not being suspended obviously.
Could you please paste the output of "ps -ef | grep location" to complete the debug information?

is there any regression with that, GPS worked for me on the BQ 5 for some time now, but stopped after the last OTA. I am not good with debugging, I strongly suggest to give a possibility to see status of GPS: number of satellites, if it cold starts or can look up constellation etc...

GPS works for me now if WiFi is turned on with 9/10 success. Can be closed IMHO

It was suggested that I add logfile /var/log/ upstart/ ubuntu- espoo-service. log but I don't seem to have that at all.
