While I do understand this could be defined as a "minor cosmetic bug", it's a really annoying one as you are forced to either manually create e menu entry or to run the program by command line.

summary: - lmms doesn't show a menu item in XFCE
+ lmms doesn't show a menu item in XFCE and KDE

This also happens in Gnome..
I created this to solve my problem

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=LMMS
Comment=Drum sequencer with multiple plugin and midi capabilities
Exec=lmms
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Application;AudioVideo;Audio
Icon=lmms

save this as

lmms.desktop

in

/usr/share/applications/

I hope this helps

The bug is still here as of Oneiric. And probably as of Precise.
Is it this hard to fix such a bug?

Precise doesn't show it in KDE.
And the splash log (after starting the application from command line) is only showing a gray outline.
