I've had the same problem, it's a simple fix. Edit the debian control file and replace:

wine1.2 [i386 amd64]

with:

wine1.2 [i386 amd64] | wine1.3 [i386 amd64]

and then:

wine1.2-dev [i386 amd64]

with

wine1.2-dev [i386 amd64] | wine1.3-dev [i386 amd64]

Still valid for Ubuntu 11.10.

I had no problem compiling it with wine 1.3 dependency. Did anyone test VST support with wine 1.3? If that is broken, it would be the only reason to stick to wine 1.2.

Writing this as the lead developer of LMMS: LMMS' VST support works
fine (if not even better) with WINE 1.3 so please remove this
dependency and also upgrade the LMMS package to the latest version.

Well, who is responsible for packaging lmms for ubuntu?
They'd be the person we need to address this to. I doubt they're reading the ubuntu lauchpad bug tracker - we need to contact them directly...
Or the repository maintainers?

The "fix" to #696189 introduced this bug. At the very least a stopgap dependency should be written in such as way that wine-1.2 or greater is allowed.

Maybe during the next release (p..) we can have a look at splitting out the Wine dependency and making it a recommendation?

also ppa:kxstudio-team/ppa has a functional version while you wait. loads .dll plugins no problem so seems like it does the trick. with wine-1.3.

Hello,

Can you confirm the wine dependency can be removed?

Lorenzo - we are saying that dependency should be on wine 1.2 OR wine 1.3 (or indeed 1.4 or 1.5 ... )

i get this

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
lmms : Depends: wine1.2 but it is not going to be installed

so can someone help me ??

Hi, this bug should hopefully be fixed in Raring Ringtail. I am uploading 0.4.13 and preparing it to be merged. As Tobias Doerffel mentioned this is a packaging problem. Lmms doesn't need to depend on Wine. Lmms needs to include lmms-vst.install file. This way VST support will be included. Lmms has no upstream Debian maintainer. 2011 was <email address hidden> last upload, and that lmms package is the one we use. The new merger will also fix the lack of menu item, and discoverability issue. Thank you.

I noticed some typo in my last post.

But I will update the information.

Lmms 0.4.13 doesn't need to depend on 1.2 it will be current. It actually depends on wine 1.4.
I have submitted the final (hopefully) merger request and will mark the bug as Fixed when it gets accepted.

Lmms 0.4.14 should be coming out this year and may make it into 13.10 which may bring a lot of welcome fixes and changes as well.
I will watch to keep wine dependancy current with whatever wine version is current for that release (13.10)

Another update... it looks like 0.4.14 just might make it into Raring. I am working on the final bits and pieces to get it merged into Raring Ringtail.
