Bug Description

i have install Ubuntu 10.04 on my new Laptop (Fujitsu LifeStyle S760). Every think work "out-of-the-box" except the fan... It start working every minute and top after 30 secondes: noise and bad autonomy.

I firts try to have a look on the temperature sensors but unfortunately, i did not success:

Code:

$ sudo sensors-detect
Sorry, no sensors were detected.
This is relatively common on laptops, where thermal management is
handled by ACPI rather than the OS

$ acpitool
...
Thermal info: <not available>

The /etc/init.d/fancontrol is not running and do not want to start...

Code:

$ sudo /etc/init.d/fancontrol status
* fancontrol is not running$ sudo /etc/init.d/fancontrol start
$ sudo /etc/init.d/fancontrol status
* fancontrol is not running

$ sudo pwmconfig
... No sensors found! (modprobe sensor modules?)

Any idea to solve this issue ?

Hi

Temp sensors are not working and I am facing sudden crashes on Acer Aspire 4740 (I assume) because of CPU over heat issue.

I continue to get repeated message in Kernel log "intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: MCP power or thermal limit exceeded".

I am not sure if all these are related?

Do let me know if any other information is required?

thanks in advance.
regards

Forgot my lastest message. I run the sensors-detect on Natty and the following configuration is detected !

# Adapter drivers
i2c_i801
# Chip drivers
coretemp
jc42

I had it to the /etc/modules.

Wait and see...
