In my case fancontrol does not control the fan anymore after waking up from suspend to disk. Doing a manual restart of fancontrol fixes the problem. When waking up from suspend to RAM the problem does not occur.

Thanks, Erik. The script does work for me. (btw. I made it executable like all the other scripts in this directory. I do not know if it is necessary, but I think so.)

So IMHO this script should be included in the fancontrol package as long as not other solution exists.

If your system uses systemd you can edit /lib/systemd/system/fancontrol.service and add under [Service], Restart=always

It's a better workaround than using pm-utils

For example

[Unit]
Description=fan speed regulator
# Run pwmconfig to create this file.
ConditionPathExists=/etc/fancontrol
After=lm-sensors.service
Documentation=man:fancontrol(8) man:pwmconfig(8)

[Service]
ExecStartPre=/usr/sbin/fancontrol --check
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/fancontrol
PIDFile=/var/run/fancontrol.pid
Restart=always

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
