Bug Description

Binary package hint: lm-sensors

Why ubuntu changes can dropped:

 * handle default ubuntu LDFLAGS for linking option:
   - upstream properly handles LDFLAGS

* debian/lm-sensors.i2c.modprobe: Remove, the kernel
  supply the necessary alias:
   - dropped from debian as well.
* debian/rules: Drop call to dh_installmodules
   - dropped from debian as well.

Debian changelog:
 lm-sensors-3 (1:3.1.1-4) unstable; urgency=low

   * Bumped Standards-version to 3.8.3 (no changes).
   * Drop libsensors4 postinst script and the dependency on makedev |
     udev. This part has been moved to i2c-tools.

 -- Aurelien Jarno <email address hidden> Wed, 14 Oct 2009 00:20:17 +0200

 lm-sensors-3 (1:3.1.1-3) unstable; urgency=low

   * *.init: depends on $remote_fs instead of $local_fs (closes:
     bug#540677).

 -- Aurelien Jarno <email address hidden> Thu, 13 Aug 2009 20:18:11 +0200

 lm-sensors-3 (1:3.1.1-2) unstable; urgency=low

   * Stop managing /etc/sensors3.conf using ucf, as user changes should now
     go in /etc/sensors.d/.
   * Mention /etc/sensors.d in libsensors4.NEWS.

 -- Aurelien Jarno <email address hidden> Wed, 01 Jul 2009 21:46:24 +0000
lm-sensors-3 (1:3.1.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version.
     - LDFLAGS is taken into account by the build system (closes:
       bug#513171).
   * debian/sensord.init: add a 'sleep 1' between stop and start for
     the restart action (closes: #528276).
   * debian/*.init: add status actions (closes: #525899).
   * Update sensord.README.Debian to mention /etc/sensors3.conf instead
     of /etc/sensors.conf (closes: #520056).
   * Bumped Standards-version to 3.8.2.

I didn't testing version 3.1.0. I don't have time for source compiling and .deb package isn't available. So I sent request for update into jaunty.

OK. Unsubscribing motu-release then. We'll look at it after someone has a package update prepared.

I uploaded debian packages without any other changes to my ppa at https://launchpad.net/~eudoxos/+archive/ppa, for those of you who need it, or perhaps to make this bug new again. I cannot give any more testing than just "works for me" (and 3.0 doesn't).

Since there are local changes in the Ubuntu package currently in jaunty, these need to be reviewed and merged, not merely discarded. Setting back to 'incomplete', then.

+1 for inclusion in Karmic. I have an Intel DQ45CB board that 3.1.1 fixes some problems for.

Because the package currently in Ubuntu has changes that we've made, and it requires checking to see if those changes can be dropped, or need to be kept. You've now had four archive admins touch this bug, please stop changing the status without doing any of the work that has been requested.

Any chance this gets merged before karmic? Are all the "local changes" available at http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/lm-sensors ? In the diff? I have no idea what i would do really but i would be fun to try an fix this if I know where to start! Maybe I could at least see if some patches have been merged upstream already...

My ASUS M3A32 Board has an it87 sensor on it worked fine on intrepid. With karmic it does not work anymore. Bug#418246 appears to have a solution (adding a kernel option acpi_enforce_resources=lax) but this can be very dangerous according to http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=125043293401414.

The correct solution is to use the asus_atk0110 driver which is correctly loaded by karmic but not supported by lm-sensors-3.0.2 but only starting with 3.1.x. Therefore it is important to merge at least lm-sensors 3.1.1 into karmic!
