Bug Description

Xubuntu Live CDs are currently missing universe, which causes a lot of things to be broken obviously enough as Ubuntu universe seed. The sources.list doesn't have it on the CD, nor is it included on the CD in the pool. Xubuntu Alternates are usable however. Please look into this.

Certainly not intentional ...

Could you post the sources.list from the live session, please?

I wouldn't expect pool/universe/ to be present on the CD unless the ship-live seed actually contained any packages in universe. pool/multiverse/ does exist with one package in it, so I suspect this part of the report is a red herring, unless you can name specific packages that you were expecting to find in pool/universe/ on the CD?

I can't load the CD at the moment, but as for packages from universe, the entire Xfce stack lives there :-). Check xubuntu-desktops rdepends.

I think you misread my comment. xubuntu-desktop certainly contains lots of stuff from universe, but that should end up in the live filesystem, not in pool/ on the CD. The pool/ directory on the CD only contains packages from the ship-live seed, *not* the bulk of packages in desktop et al.

11:38 <cjwatson> ok, there are two problems here
11:38 <cjwatson> the first is that livecd-rootfs doesn't construct the final sources.list correctly; I'll fix this tomorrow
11:39 <cjwatson> the second is that the archive isn't correctly set up to include Task fields for packages in universe, which I've just fixed

I think that bug 313365 and bug 105511 are dupes

This is not the same as bug 105511. Ubuntu and Xubuntu are supposed to be handled differently in this regard.

Thanks for reporting this bug. According to the Xubuntu team lead, this has been fixed in recent LiveCD's for Xubuntu 9.04, so I will be marking it as fixed-released. If you re-experience this problem in Xubuntu 9.04, please re-open the bug report. Thanks!
