Bug Description

I have an Acer Aspire 8930G-944G64BN notebook with dual boot (Windows Vista Home Premium and Ubuntu 11.04). I have figured out that in Windows the ir device (ITE8708) works fine and accepts the signals from the remote control (which is RC804V-B). In Ubuntu on the other hand it doesn't! I have also noticed that eventhough in hardware.conf file the "REMOTE DEVICE" is "/dev/lirc0" no lirc0 file exists in this directory. I suppose that the main problem is that there isn't yet develloped a default configuration file for this ir device (ITE8708) by lirc, so users have to make custom configurations for the device to work, with very few positive results, as it is logical. Whoever wishes to take a look on this and help me is appreciated. I'm also available to provide any data that will be helpfull for a solution to be found! Hi to all!
The lirc version is: 0.8.7-0ubuntu4.1.

That hardware is fully supported by the upstream (as of 2.6.39) ite-cir driver.
