Bug Description

Binary package hint: lirc-modules-source

I apt-get installed lirc-modules-source 0.7.1pre2-11ubuntu1 on a dapper drake with kernel "Linux ubuntu 2.6.15-26-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Aug 3 03:13:28 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux". I sucessfully compiled it with m-a build lirc and installed the .deb. When I try to load the serial module (modprobe lirc_serial) it says:
WARNING: Error inserting lirc_dev (/lib/modules/2.6.15-26-686/misc/lirc_dev.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error inserting lirc_serial (/lib/modules/2.6.15-26-686/misc/lirc_serial.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

And dmesg tells me:
[17182294.344000] lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_add
[17182294.344000] lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_destroy
[17182294.344000] lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_remove
[17182294.344000] lirc_dev: Unknown symbol class_simple_create
[17182294.348000] lirc_serial: Unknown symbol verify_area
[17182294.348000] lirc_serial: Unknown symbol lirc_unregister_plugin
[17182294.348000] lirc_serial: Unknown symbol lirc_register_plugin

The bug seems to be caused by lirc 0.7.1 incompatibility with kernel >=2.6.13
