Bug Description

Binary package hint: lirc

1) Release: Ubuntu version 9.04 (via mythbuntu)

2) Package: Lirc
Installed: 0.8.4a-0ubuntu5
Candidate: 0.8.4a-0ubuntu5
Version table:
*** 0.8.4a-0ubuntu5 0
     500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
     100 /bar/lib/dpkg/status

3) Automatic support through Mythbuntu Control Centre setup.

4) No remote listed.

Furthermore, the remote is not recognized by "irw" or "irxevent" even after copying in known working (from other distro) lircd.conf and lircrc files.

Mythbuntu Installation Manual requested that I submit a bug report. I can supply the working lircd.conf and lircrc files if that would help for implementation purposes. Please contact me at my email address.

Jeremy:

Thanks - I should have a chance to download and install the package tonight and hopefully test things out.  I'll let you know how things run.

If that didn't work, try the 3.0-rc7 kernel. I contains the following fix:

commit 1ba9268c2bfeebfd70193145685e12faeae92882
Author: Jarod Wilson
Date: Wed Jun 8 15:00:01 2011 -0300

[media] keymaps: fix table for pinnacle pctv hd devices

Both consumers of RC_MAP_PINNACLE_PCTV_HD send along full RC-5
scancodes, so this update makes this keymap actually *have* full
scancodes, heisted from rc-dib0700-rc5.c. This should fix out of the box
remote functionality for the Pinnacle PCTV HD 800i (cx88 pci card) and
PCTV HD Pro 801e (em28xx usb stick).

A PPA of this kernel is available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
It will probably apply better to Ubuntu 10.10 or 11.04 than to 9.04.
