Bug Description

Binary package hint: linuxsampler

The linuxsampler deb from the dapper repos was compiled without jack support (--enable-jack). Using the ALSA audio engine doesn't work for me and at least a few other people. See forum thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=220120

It should be recompiled with jack-support.

I just discovered that linuxsampler has some licensing issues. They claim it is GPL, but then add additional restrictions to it. Debian Proper has already removed linuxsampler, liblscp, libgig and qsampler from their archives. What's the Ubuntu policy on that?

See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=328121
