Bug Description

This device is properly recognized but requires firmware (which is a separate issue) and proper permissions.

I needed to add a udev rules file (/etc/udev/rules.d/99-hauppage.rules ) with this: SUBSYSTEM=="usb",ATTRS{idVendor}=="2040", ATTRS{idProduct}=="7200", MODE="0666"

Such rules should be automatically added. The above worked for me but I didn' t research if there was a better way to acocmplish this.

Is the file name "99-hauppage.rules" significant? Should it be spelled correctly hauppauge?

Spelling won't matter, no, but the number will indicate the order in which rules will be applied, if I remember well. Please check the related documentaiton in Ubuntu.
