the same for me
uname -a Linux tav-Aspire-5670 3.0.0-17-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 8 17:34:21 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
lspci | grep -i vga 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400
lspci | grep -i wire 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)
I've read before of that bug - one had an opinion - it is rarely reproduced bug due to the composition of ATI card and Intel wireless card
I not use network manager, I use wicd and has iwl3945 option: alias wlan0 iwl3945 options iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1
