the usb port on the left side works, but the two ports on the right side doesn't.

It seems there is no power running to my USB ports on the right side, i have necessarily to blacklist card reader driver...

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Fix Released.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

i have the same problem if i compile this driver in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty 64bit kernel 2.6.38:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11062960&postcount=6

in virtualbox (windows seven 64bit HP) i have installed Ubuntu 11.10 64bit... no issues with kernel 3.0.0.12...everythink works ok...

i think it's a problem related to the UEFI Bios.

sorry for my bad english...

this happen to my Lenovo S205 with kubuntu 11.10 too.
If I using the usb ports on the right side before boot Kubuntu,
they are working.

latest kernel 3.1 works without problems because does not have card reader driver compiled in.

it seems, the usb ports on the right side working correct now.
Also the card reader is working fine.

Had the same issue on my Lenovo Y570, the right ports were not working with kernel 3.0.0.14 (Ubuntu 11.10)
Updated kernel to 3.0.0.15 and they're now working, and card reader still working too!

I have tried kernel 3.0.0-15-generic but still problems...the right ports doesn't work...

Aldini (peter-kreinhoefer) wrote :

opsss, right, the usb ports on the right don't work correctly.
Only if I had connected a usb device before boot kubuntu,
then it seems they are working.

the only solution is to blacklist rts5139:

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

blacklist rts5139

as always, sorry for my bad english.

But should this be closed?
12.04 is supposed to be LTS, after all. Saying "closed because it is fixed in new non-lts release" kinda defeats the purpose of LTS.

icedearth_nic, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:
