kernel BUG in btrfs during kubuntu install

Bug Description
After booting kubuntu-alpha3 from USB, and running the installer the kernel reports
kernel BUG at /build/
Invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP
EIP is at btrfs_calc_

I do have some btrfs partitions on the hard disk (created using Ubuntu 11.04) but none were mounted at the time the installer was run.
