VT6410 IDE/Raid issues

Bug Description

I am trying to get ide functionality for my VT6410 pci ide/raid card. i am told that old versions of ubuntu had them working out of the box, or with small patches/fixes. i can see my pci ide card in "Disk Utility", but not any drives attached to it.

This is not a bug within ubuntu.

The patch supplied by VIA to allow this device to work is not compatible with kernels post Ubuntu 9.10

Via have been informed of this and this should not be progressed until VIA release an update to the official patch.

this kernel is now EOL and the VIA patch never came.

Ubuntu is not responsible for maintaining external suppliers patches and it's compatability with the upstream Linux kernel.
