Bug Description

I've migrated from 10.10 to 11.04 and now each time I start my computer after powering off from ubuntu I have a bios error message.

Steps to reproduce:
- Shutdown computer from ubuntu (from menu, or by using sudo halt)
- (computer powers off)
- Power on computer
- Computer begin its start sequence (~ 2-3 seconds)
- Computer reboots itself and display the following error message :"System boot fail"

I've tried reseting bios settings, but it makes no differences. After the error message, I just press the F1 key as suggested, and the boot process can continue.

This is a bug specific to ubuntu 11.04, here's the different things I tried, with test results :
- Power off from Windows XP : reboot ok
- Reboot computer (no power off, using the restart command from main menu) from ubuntu 11.04 : ok
- Halt from ubuntu 11.04 : error message at power on
- Halt from ubuntu 11.04 live cd : error message at power on
- Halt from ubuntu 10.04 live cd : reboot ok
- Halt during bios sequence : reboot ok

Looking around the web, I found two other guys with same issue, both running asus motherboard, so there might be a problem with new kernel shutdown sequence and asus motherboard (mine is P5N-D) (http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3115863.0 and http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=506381)

I'm curious: does the kernel in comment #9 of bug 787590 help?

I've tried the specified kernel
$ uname -a
Linux jb-desktop 2.6.38-9-generic #43~lp787590v201106021536 SMP Thu Jun 2 14:37:57 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

But still the same problem.

I've also tried to remove the power supply after powering off from ubuntu, the reboot was ok. So indeed there could be something that is not correctly powered off in the computer.
