Bug Description
During an upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 this happened.
I just want to also give some more feedback. This problem leads to a very negative experience. During the upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 the kernel fails to update. After the restart in the grub menu the only choice is the new broken kernel. Trying to start the 2.6.38 fails, leaving the computer without an OS. Requires clean install (it is good that I have / and /home on different partitions)
