[STAGING]soft switch on keyboard doesn't work

My wi-fi and bluetooth soft switch on keyboard doesn't work, so that i can't use wireless. And it works fine in Ubuntu 10.10.

my laptop is acer aspire one 721. the soft switch for wifi and bluetooth is fn+f3.

Got the same problem, but with a different network controller.
Worked fine under 10.10. After upgrade i could not activate WLAN like Michael

As you can see in the duplicate Bugreport 791373 you can fix it with blacklisting acer_wmi in the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

This is a nice and simple workaround. I tried it 5 minutes ago and it works. All FN key combinations work properly.

compiling acer-wmi.c from 2.6.39.4 in 3.0's tree solves temporarily.

Michael, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Natty reached EOL on October 2012.

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested and remove the tag:
