Bug Description

MacBook Pro 8,2, tested against beta1, daily-april 5th, and daily-april 8th (using -beta1-dvd-amd64.iso for beta1, and -desktop-amd64+mac.iso for dailies.)

The drive fails to initialize with TEST_UNIT_READY failed (err_mask=0x4).

That is because /dev/sg0 is not a block device. Your cdrom is not being recognized because it is failing to initialize, the relevant error is:

TEST_UNIT_READY failed (err_mask=0x4)

It doesn't; the installer dropped at the same place, with the same ata2 complaints

not much to add; confirmed the same behavior on 11.04 as released (for both i386 & amd64 builds)
