Bug Description

The system was idle and on charge. After many hours I came back and found the screen had been powered down (black) and use the touchpad to wake the screen up. The screen came on and was at a console (full screen text) with some error message which were only there for half a second before it when back to an X screen with a apport, however the system stopped responding to mouse input immediately, and the mouse pointer disappeared. The system would not respond to ctrl-alt-F1 to get back to the console. I had no indication that the system was working at all. Pressing ctrl-alt-del caused the machine to shutdown and reboot after which apport offered this bug report.
