Upstream and longterm (2.6.32.34) have already been fixed - see below for details.

x86, quirk: Fix SB600 revision check

Commit 7f74f8f28a2bd9db9404f7d364e2097a0c42cc12
(x86 quirk: Fix polarity for IRQ0 pin2 override on SB800
systems) introduced a regression. It removed some SB600 specific
code to determine the revision ID without adapting a
corresponding revision ID check for SB600.

See this mail thread:

  http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=129980296006380&w=2

This patch adapts the corresponding check to cover all SB600
revisions.

Julian,

With respect to your first issue. I don't think this issue was/is affected by this kernel update. This issue has been around for some time. It is no better, nor no worse with this update.

Am I mistaken?

C de-Avillez (hggdh2) wrote :

for the record, EC2 results are in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/KernelSRU-lucid-2.6.32-315.28. The TioBench failures were caused by test script errors.

Hardware Certification has completed testing for Lucid on 102/105 systems:

http://people.canonical.com/~hwcert/sru-testing/wk14_2011/lucid-proposed.html

3 systems failed to run tests due to infrastructure issues. No regressions were found.

Julian Wiedmann (jwiedmann) wrote :

Brad,

from what I can tell, the patch has been confirmed to finally fix the shutdown issue on older NV chips. But at the same time it *introduces* the bug on newer controllers!

Quoting Alan Stern (http://marc.info/?l=linux-usb&m=130142049527638&w=2):
"Thanks. It looks like nVidia "fixed" their hardware at some point.
The old hardware doesn't work without the kernel patch and the new
hardware doesn't work with it!"
