Bug Description

Volume keys don't function, they are mapped to WMI GUID 02314822-307C-4F66-bf0E-48AEAEB26CC8. Also the _WED method does not return an integer with the scan code, instead it returns a buffer with the scancode in the 1st element in the buffer.

Two event should be bound to key presses:
  event ID: 0xc0 (key-up)
  event ID: 0xc1 (key-down).

SRU request:

Impact: Dell device is lacking volume up/down hotkeys which require
a WMI driver to handle the WMI hotkey events with the GUID
02314822-307C-4F66-bf0E-48AEAEB26CC8.

Fix: Update dell WMI driver to support GUID 02314822-307C-4F66-bf0E-48AEAEB26CC8.
and handle firmware bug in _WED method return value.

Testcase: With the driver, hotkeys work correctly. Without the driver,
hotkeys don't work.

Accepted linux into lucid-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

@Martin, I believe this is in maverick-proposed rather than lucid. Will test tomorrow.

Verified for Maverick.

w/o the proposed kernel, keys don't work. With proposed kernel volume keys work.
