I have a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3 motherboard which comes with a builtin Realtek RTL8111D onboard ethernet:

Subsystem: Giga-byte Technology GA-EP45-DS5 Motherboard
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 49

Memory at fbeff000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K]
Memory at fbef8000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=16K]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at fbe00000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: r8169
Kernel modules: r8169
This doesn't work at all under Ubuntu 10.10 with all updates installed, I never get a link: Network Manager shows the adapter as disconnected and ip link show eth0 gives:
2: eth0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state DOWN qlen 1000
The adapter works under Windows 7.
If one has booted Linux once, then the adapter doesn't work under Windows 7 anymore, even after a power off/power on cycle. One needs to power off and *turn off the power supply* (on/off power supply switch or remove power cable) for e.g. 5 mn to get the adapter to work again under Windows.

MY Realtek RTL8111D onboard ethernet this doesn't work in Ubuntu 10.10. Network Manager shows the adapter as disconnected and ip link show eth0 gives:

The adapter works under Windows 7. If one has booted Linux once, then the adapter doesn't work under Windows 7 anymore, even after a power off/power on cycle. One needs to power off and *turn off the power supply* (on/off power supply switch or remove power cable) for e.g. 5 mn to get the adapter to work again under Windows.
