sometimes after waking from sleep the cpu is at 100% and the computer is very unresponsive. top gives

sleeping and waking again often cure this.
today my ralink rt2500 pcmcia card was not working. i did
sudo cardctl eject
sudo cardctl insert
and got the same slowdown.
sudo cardctl eject
cured it.
