Bug Description

trying to launch the ami-548c783d ami (10.10 64bit) in ec2 fails for any of the high memory instance types. I have tried m2.xlarge, m2.2xlarge, and m2.4xlarge in several availability zones and seen the same problem of kernel panics and the instance never coming online. The m1.large and m1.xlarge instance types appear to work fine.

I contacted Amazon, and there response was "Thanks for these updates. We've investigated the issue and we don't see anything that should be causing this from out side, so it sounds like a software application issue within the AMI. The best thing to do is to talk to the owner of the AMI, which in this case is Canonical."
