Hello, I'm not sure why I have received this email. My X31 ThinkPad has no problems in switching off. The functions that I cannot use are "Suspend" and "Hibernate". If I use either of these options, then the ThinkPad closes down but with the "sleep" light (half-moon) lit. However if I then just try to re-start by, eg. raising the lid or moving the cursor, nothing happens and evntually I have to depress the on/off for more than 10 secs to force a power-off. The capability to "sleep" existed in the Ubuntu forerunner, Windows XP. Does that help? Graham ----- Original Message ----- From: Christopher M. Penalver Sent: 07/25/12 01:54 AM To:
